Sno-Isle Genealogical Society

What’s New at SIGS - May 2024

Greetings, fellow genealogy enthusiasts! As May unfolds, the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society (SIGS) is thrilled to share the latest updates and upcoming events. Here's what's happening this month:

  • General Meeting Presentation - May 1st: Join us for our May 1st general meeting presentation, where SIGS Vice-President Gabrielle Hillgrove will tackle the thought-provoking question, "What If It's The Wrong Family?" Gabrielle will share her own experiences and the challenges she faced when the validity of a well-researched line was called into question. This insightful presentation promises to shed light on navigating genealogical uncertainties.
  • Tool Shed Zoom Meeting - May 15th: Mark your calendars for our Tool Shed Zoom meeting on May 15th, where we'll delve into real-life examples of using the LEEDS method to group DNA matches of unknown lines. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your DNA analysis skills and uncover new insights into your family history.
  • Brick Wall Sessions - May 18th: Break through those stubborn research obstacles with our Brick Wall sessions on May 18th. Margaret will be available for free, 40-minute, in-person sessions to provide personalized guidance and support. Call 425-775-6267 to reserve one of the four available slots and make progress in your genealogical journey.
  • Growing Our Community: As we approach the end of the season in June, we're eager to grow our community. While our membership remained steady in April, we're hoping to welcome 5-10 new members by the end of June. If you know someone interested in family history, invite them to join us at an event this month. And if you've benefited from the information and resources we provide, consider becoming a member and supporting our community's growth.
  • SIGS Digital Presence: In this month's Beacon, we describe SIGS digital presence, from websites to social media to streaming. For more details, be sure to check out the Beacon, which should already be in your inbox. If you're not receiving the Beacon, click the "Subscribe to Newsletter" link to the left and stay informed about the latest developments in our community.

Are you ready to embark on a new research journey in May? Whether you're a seasoned researcher or just beginning your genealogical quest, let's travel this path together. Reach out and connect with fellow members at one of our meetings. If you can't make it to one of our events, we invite you to join us for our Monday morning Coffee Klatch on Zoom, or stop by Humble House on Thursdays or Saturdays for a chat. Together, let's forge meaningful connections and continue unraveling the rich tapestry of our ancestors' stories.

Warm regards,
The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society (SIGS) Team
